Scanner backers matter

Here are 2 scans of the same photo. The only difference is one scan was done with a white backer and the other one was done with a black backer. Black backers are useful if you have bleed-through with images or text on the verso showing up on the scan. A black backer reduces the bleed-through, but it can also darken the scan and changes the color. These are raw scans – no post work has been done on these photos other than crop.
