I had an old Western Digital 2TB HDD drive that I retired as it was too small for me. I decided to give it some hot and cold testing to see how it held up. I popped the case and hard drive in a plastic bag and stored it in a neighbors garden shed for 2 years. (12.7.2018 to 12.14.2020)
Temperatures in the shed ranged from about 5 degrees F in the winter to 100 degrees F for summer. After the test period was over all data was readable and the drive worked fine. I then reformatted it and put more data on it and it worked fine. I scanned the drive with Seagate’s Sea Tools for Windows and the drive passed.
